On Saturday and Sunday, 26 and 27 September 2026, Bast and Krvavica will become hubs of contemporary art and education through the Pazi na sliku Festival of Alternative Culture. The festival programme brings together practical educational workshops and film screenings, while also exploring the local architectural heritage. The programme is organised by the art organisation Antena Kolektiv in collaboration with Kino Klub Split.
Saturday’s programme at the school in Bast begins with educational workshops.
From 4 PM, participants will have the opportunity to learn about screen printing on textiles, led by Tonči Kranjčević Batalić and Nikolina Banić. The workshop introduces participants to the screen-printing technique and gives them the opportunity to try printing on fabric themselves. Everyone interested is invited to bring a T-shirt or several T-shirts on which they can print their chosen designs.
From 6 PM, the programme will turn to the world of digital art, with a workshop on real-time visual coding. The workshop focuses on Hydra (hydra.ojack.xyz) — an open-source livecoding tool for generative visuals, popular within the audiovisual and creative coding communities. Over the course of an hour and a half, participants will learn the basics of writing code that generates and manipulates visuals in real time, with no prior coding experience required. The workshop is hands-on, so participants are asked to bring their own laptop. The workshop will be led by Klara Đapić and Tanja Minarik.
Saturday’s evening programme, starting at 8:30 PM, is dedicated to a screening of short documentary and experimental films exploring themes of urbanism and contemporary society. The screening will be followed by a discussion with Nina Bačun, Tonči Kranjčević and Tanja Minarik about the process behind the creation of their works. The film programme is curated and moderated by Vedran Šuvar.
On Sunday, 27 September, starting at 12 PM, an educational tour of the architecturally significant complex of the former children’s rehabilitation centre in Krvavica will be led by Tina Divić.
The afternoon is dedicated to a creative art workshop for children and young people, My Film Poster, led by Tina Divić. Through collage and the reimagining of existing posters, participants will explore the language of visual expression. The workshop starts at 3 PM and no registration is required.
The festival concludes with evening film programmes at 6 PM and 8:30 PM, exploring the themes of belonging, memory and the future from different perspectives.
Everyone interested is also invited to a special programme — an online lecture by Nina Bačun on the evening before the festival activities begin.
The lecture reconsiders the notion of authorship in film and architecture, moving beyond the traditional figure of the author towards an understanding of authorship as a complex, relational and collective process. It introduces the concept of “auteur space” — a space that does not emerge solely from a recognisable authorial signature, but is shaped through the interplay of space, time, materials, bodies, the environment and the various participants involved in its production.
