The Square of father Jure Radić bears the name of the Croatian scientist, theologian and naturalist who was born in 1920 in a house on the northern side of the present-day Square. The Franciscan monk Jure Radic is the author of several scientific works, the founder of the Malacological Museum and Institute "Mountains and Sea" in Makarska, as well as the author of the "Acta Biocovica" natural sciences journal. Father Jure’s birth house is the starting point of the "Educational ecological path", with 14 stations in the area of the Riviera of Makarska and the Biokovo mountain.
In the western part of the square, there is an impressive white poplar, a natural monument locally known as Gorica. Planted in 1910, the Gorica poplar owes its longevity to the nearby spring. The volume of its trunk is 630 centimeters, while its lush crown provides a pleasant shade, ideal as a resting spot for guests and daily discussions of locals on current affairs. No wonder Gorica is also called the Parliament of Baška. The square with the Gorica poplar is one of the stages of the Baška Voda Summer festival.
